Pride Month is an annual event in the United States honoring the lives, courageous actions, and lived experiences of members of the LGBT+ Community. As a nation, we celebrate Pride Month in June to memorialize the June 28, 1969, beginning of the Stonewall Uprising. Stonewall marked a tipping point for what was then the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States. As our collective understanding of identity has expanded, we have learned to embrace and celebrate the lives of our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, and Pansexual friends and neighbors, as well as to leave space for our continuing understanding of identity.
