缅北强奸 Unveils Golden Wolves Logos

(Reading, PA 鈥 Aug. 28, 2017) 鈥 缅北强奸 unveiled a newly designed athletics visual identity at a campus-wide event today, to be utilized immediately across all of its 22 sports programs.

缅北强奸鈥檚 Golden Wolves logos represent a fierce and new bold approach to its athletics visual identity. The profile version serves as the primary look accompanied with the official word mark. Taking a unique step, the university also has a secondary logo that sports a face-on version. Both versions, which consistently rated high across multiple campus groups, incorporate the university鈥檚 traditional maroon and gold colors.

鈥淭hroughout the very inclusive process, our university community continuously emphasized the importance of having a new nickname directly connected to our distinctive Franciscan heritage,鈥 said Thomas F. Flynn, president. 鈥淚鈥檓 very pleased that we鈥檝e chosen such a powerful Franciscan symbol. The overwhelming support and consensus that emerged from across the university community regarding the selection has been impressive.鈥

According to the iconic  story, St. Francis of Assisi tamed a wolf that had been terrorizing the city in the early 13th Century. The story symbolizes the power of peacemaking. Adding 鈥榞olden鈥 to the name represents excellence and highlights one of the university鈥檚 traditional colors. And, 缅北强奸鈥檚 initials, AU, are the scientific symbol for gold. The school colors, maroon and gold, remain unchanged.

Golden Wolves replaces the former name, Crusaders, which had been in use since the late 1970s when 缅北强奸 launched its intercollegiate athletic program. In March, a university task force was appointed to develop new name options. Representing students, faculty, athletic and other staff, alumni, parents, trustees and Bernardine Sisters, the task force invited and received hundreds of submissions from the university community with more than one-third suggesting variations of 鈥渨olves.鈥

Moving forward as the Golden Wolves, the university plans to unveil a new mascot during Homecoming and Family Weekend in October.
